The Financial Services Authority (FSA) regulates all the Credit Unions in the UK. As a result the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) and the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) are available for the members of the London Adventist Credit Union.

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)
www.fscs.org.uk ensures that Credit Union members will have the same level of consumer protection as depositors with banks and building societies. This means that if a Credit Union is unable to meet its liabilities, the first £2,000 of a member's shares in a Credit Union should have 100% protection. The next £33,000 of a member's shares should have 90% protection (these balances are subject to be increased or otherwise amended by goverment legislation). In reality for the first £2,000 the protection is actually better than retail bank/ building society savings accounts which offer only 90% protection.

The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) seeks to provide an independent arbitration service in those situations where a credit union is unable to resolve a complaint to the satisfaction of the complainant.

Both services are currently available to members of LACU
